What is a dog park?

An off-leash dog park is a secured area restricted to dogs and their owners.  More than just room to roam, the creation of a dog park allows dogs to exercise and socialize safely in a park like setting.  Dog parks are being established around the country and offer a wealth of benefits to dogs, their owners and the Community as a whole.

Twenty minutes of dog park exercise equates to two hours of on-leash walking.

Puppies and adult dogs need room to run. Enclosed play areas permit them to do so while preventing them from endangering themselves and others. Dogs, who are accustomed to playing with animals and people other than their owner, are more likely to be well socialized and react well toward strangers.
